Der Eidechsen-Spion / The lizard-spy
Monday morning I turned into that lizard in our school. Jake: <Danger! Run! Run, run, run!> Cassie: "Jake, what's wrong?“ Jake: <I have to get used to my lizard body first, Cassie. I'm trying to get the natural panic instincts under control. In addition, the light is blinding terribly.> Cassie: "Do you know the best way to get to Chapman's office?“ Jake: <Up the wall throught the ventilation slot, then through the window. If we're lucky he talks about the location of the Yeerk pool in a phone call.> Cassie: "OK, we stay in contact through telepathy, alright?“ Jake: <Alright. Wish me luck. Here we go. That's crazy, Cassie. I dash up the wall with a million kilometers per hour. OK, I reached Chapman's office. The window is open. Chapman is leaving the office right now.> Cassie: <Keep an eye on him!> Jake: <I'm already behind him. Ouch!> Cassie: <Jake! What's wrong?“ Jake: <Chapman suddenly turned around. He almost stepped on me. Luckyly I'm fast as a weasel.> Cassie: <And where are you now?> Jake: <I followed Chapman to the janitor's storage room. Strange. Now he's locking the door behind him.> Cassie: <The broom closet? What's he doing there?> Jake: <He's doing something on the sink. I think, he's turning the faucet and one of the heel, where the scrubbers hang. Cassie, you won't believe it! Chapman is opening a secret door! Behind it is a stairway that leads down to a cave, which is covered in purple light.> Voice: "No! No! Help!“ Jake: <Cassie, I think I know what happens in this cave. Somewhere down there I sense a human being, whose brain is entered by a Yeerk slug and who's turned into a dull slave.> Cassie: <That – that means...> Jake: <That means, we found the Yeerk pool. It's directly under our school.> Cassie: <Jake, come back. We know now, what we wanted to know.> Jake: <Yes. We meet after school at the mall at the food court.> |
