A big thanks to Paula, who shared a picture of her son holding up an ARC (Advanced Reader’s Copy) of the Lenticular Edition of Animorphs #1!
These ARCs were released as part of the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting in San Diego (January 7-11, 2011) that Michael Grant and K.A. Applegate both attended.
As you can see from the picture above, these ARCs are ‘uncorrected proofs’ and are only available through promotional/publishing connections. They also seem to have been printed and released before Scholastic changed the covers, because this one uses the old Jake that we saw in the earlier version.
The actual book for Animorphs #1 is set to be released May 1st, 2011 (Click here for full info and pre-order links). For full coverage regarding the ALA event, check out www.ala.org
I’m so jealous.

So, this is the version without the KASUs corrected, right? I’ve been rereading the series, and I’ve also noticed some grammar/punctuation typos here and there (but rare).

@Jeff: Me too buddy. Anyone who wants to send me a copy is more than welcome. ๐
@Jordan: I have no idea whether they’re fixing KASUs at all with these re-releases. The story is supposed to be exactly the same, and from what I’ve been told, the references from the 90’s are the only things that will be updated.
The ‘uncorrected proof’ part is normal for all ARC releases, because it’s simply a draft/sneak preview of the final product, and can change drastically or very little at all. But without having one in my hands, I have no idea how it compares to the Animorphs #1 that was originally published.

Yeah, I don’t understand where everyone keeps getting the ‘All KASUs will be fixed’ idea from as I don’t recall that ever once being said by K.A. All I remember her saying was that she was looking into possibly updating some of the references. It seems to be a classic case of people putting words in her mouth and they’re only setting themselves up to be disappointed and they’ll have nobody to blame but themselves.

Just curious – do they still have the little flipbook animations in the corner?
