YES, I HAVE THE NEW ANIMORPHS BOOKS!

Following up from our post earlier today, I went down to my local Chapters Indigo Bookstore and was able to pick up my own copies of Animorphs #1 & 2!

So yes folks, this isn’t just a one store thing. It looks like Chapters is releasing the books two weeks in advance! My store only had 5 of each on their shelves, so grab them while you can (stock may vary between stores).

Major thanks to Tobias Mason Park for bringing this to our attention!

UPDATE: For those who are interested, I have now read the first book and reviewed it on my GoodReads. A warning to old fans— the review gives away slight spoilers to the changes in the book, so if you’d rather not know anything at all, then don’t read it! The review can be found here.

UPDATE #2: Amazon.com now has the books ‘In Stock’ as well, and are shipping out the pre-orders, according to the fans at the Animorphs LiveJournal Community. Also, for anyone who has a Waldenbooks/Borders near them, they are carrying the books in-store there as well.

  1. I got mine too! So exciting, and oh my God, so freakin’ satisfying to finally have that whole you-can-thought-speak-while-not-in-morph blunder corrected.

  2. So can you confirm what text changes there have been? I heard that the pop culture references were going to be updated, but KASU would not be.

  3. @Tess: Absolutely! I love that everything is so consistent now! 😀

@Dave: I finished the first book last night, and I can confirm that the pop-cultures references have been updated and a major KASU has been fixed. There might also be smaller edits in there that I will have to compare with my original copy, since I haven’t read #1 in so long.

Either way though, I’m not updating them up on the website right away. It kind of takes the fun away from everything, doesn’t it? We already know so much about these reprints, I think fans would appreciate discovering these changes for themselves.

So I’ll be making notes of the changes, but I’m planning on leaving the Trivia part of the archive pages untouched for at least the first few weeks, or maybe for the first month, so that everyone gets a chance to read it themselves spoiler-free.

What popculture updates were there. i saw the books in my local coles (cabadian equivalent of a barnes and noble) but i didn`t read them.

  5. @Dave: I’d rather not ruin it for everybody, but if you want the spoilers, then highlight the text below. There might be more, as I said above, but I’d have to do comparisons with the original book just to be sure.

KASU fix: Page 55 – Jake can no longer thought-speak to Tobias while in human form. The conversation has been altered so that their powers are now consistent with the rest of the series.

Pop-culture update: Page 02 – Instead of Jake owning a Sega, he now just owns a gaming system.

I have also updated the post above to include my review of book #1.

  6. Are these being re-released in australia any time soon?

    Comment by Briannon — April 23, 2011 @ 6:09 pm

  7. @Briannon: Yes, they are being released in Australia at exactly the same time as U.S/Canada/U.K. They are available through Booktopia online. Here is our post. 🙂

  9. I went by my local Books-A-Million today (I live in East TN) and they had copies of Animorphs 1 and 2! My mom looked at me like I was crazy when I said I considered buying them (“Don’t you already have them?”) but it was still so cool to see them in stores again! Just wanted to give you a heads up about Books-A-Million stores releasing them early as well.
