Taking a little break from the relaunch stuff, I came across this neat trailer a little while back that I think is worth sharing. It uses a few scenes from the TV show, but is otherwise filmed entirely by fans:
There are also a few fans out there that have written their own scripts for the adaptation of the books. The first one is by Dogman15, for Animorphs #1: The Invasion. And the second one is actually a theatrical production for Animorphs #6: The Capture by Drake. He tells me that this has already been staged and is in production for a play-writing college class in Florida. He’s going to try and get this filmed, and pass it along to us if possible! I have added links to both scripts in our fan fiction section.
To close off today’s post, here is another great little clip I found that the Animorphs TV Show fans will appreciate. It’s Nadia Nascimento (Cassie) being discovered at a party:
My review of “The Capture” script:
I’m noticing a few spelling and/or sentence syntax/grammar errors scattered throughout* (some punctuation errors, too). They had DDR in 1997, right? Oh, and the true founder of The Sharing, Lore David Altman, was (SPOILER ALERT!) killed by Visser One after she started The Sharing through him. So maybe Drake should change that to be “the current leader of The Sharing” being well-connected with Marvel.
(*For example, don’t confuse “you’re” with “your”.)
Drake Austin, I highly recommend reading through your entire script with a second person and correcting all of the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure errors in it. It’s a great story, but it needs to be easier for a reader to read.
Trivia bit: Odret 177 is the Yeerk who infests Tobias in Megamorphs 4. At the end of that book, it was made as if those events never happened (it was more of a “what-if” thing that Jake asked for and only Cassie somewhat remembers). Given that, it’s only natural to assume that Odret 177 still exists somewhere in the Animorphs universe. Good job, Drake!
In order for the prerecorded lines of Sam and Odret to work properly, that first batch of conversation between them would need to be one file by itself on a computer in the sound booth, plugged into the sound board. (A computer allows for faster cueing up than a CD player). Every voiceover line after that would have to be instantly playable by someone who has rehearsed with the cast, so that the recorded lines could be cued exactly when they are needed to interact with those on stage.
As I read this, I’m thinking… are we going to see Jake or any of the book characters?
As for the Prince Seerow thing, 1966 was when he was relieved of duty, but I think maybe he did the actual “help the Yeerks” thing a bit before then.
“11ish” should be written in the script as “elevenish” or “eleven-ish”.
Ah, I see we’re bringing Marco and his dad Peter into the picture. Cool. (Can’t forget Tom, though. He’s the only one who has phyiscally appeared instead of being mentioned.)
Odret is more likely to be promoted to Sub-Visser for getting two smart scientists to join The Sharing; I think Visser is too high of a promotion.
Oh! I see by the mention of Karen that this story takes place after book 19, The Departure. Good, so we have a timeline in place. (Or rather a place in the timeline.)
Wait a second… Yeerks always have full control of the host, 99% of the time. Sam shouldn’t be able to have this much control over Odret.
Another thing, the character you’re thinking of is June Cleaver, not Joan Cleaver. You know, from “Leave It to Beaver”?
Aaaand… we mention Taylor. All right! (I didn’t even seem to care when characters like V3 and Chapman were mentioned; what gives?)
Oh, I see what’s happening here. The story is making more sense now.
…
Good story! Fix the errors I pointed out earlier.
