Animorphs Cancellation: Officially Confirmed

Dan Letchworth from Scholastic returns again, this time confirming the conclusions we had drawn up in our previous post:

“Hi again, just to put doubts to rest about what we’ve all already deduced–my editor at Scholastic just confirmed with me this morning that Animorphs #8 was cancelled at a very late stage, with no plans for any further rereleases.

Hellfire and damnation!”

-Dan

Sad to say, this also removes the chances of an Animorphs 2.0 or a movie adaptation any time in the near future. We’d like to thank Dan once again, for keeping us and the fans up-to-date on the official progress of the series.

As a side note: If you were holding out on buying any of the new reprints in paperback, then now might be the best time to get them. They are unlikely to ever get a second printing, making these now ‘limited time editions’ even harder to find than the ones from the original Classic run.

That’s everything for now. As always, we’ll keep you informed should there be any further official announcement to the continuation of the series, and you can find us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up with those latest Animorphs-related updates. Until next time!

  1. It’s sad. I went to my local Target to buy the books when they were to be released only to find that they were not there, I have gotten all the re-releases up to four in book form and up to six or seven in e-book form for the kindle. I guess I’ll try to get the rest before they become collectors items.

I wonder what an Animorphs 2.0 would be like. I guess we’ll never know.

  2. Another note: Amazon.com is also offering a 4-for-3 promotion, with #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, and #7 being eligible, where if you buy three, you get one free. That’s essentially $5.25 for each.

  3. And they pulled out mere seconds before we saw the new Andalite design! What a tease!

  4. Can we at least see the full picture versions of Ax? Both the model they got for him and the new Andalite art? If they’re not going to publish the book, they can at least give us that.

  7. “The Twighlight generation has spoken”… No truer words!! I’m almost 30 and still feel like the 12 year old girl who fell in love with the series… Think there’ll always be a good amount of us die hards out there!!

  8. Terribly disappointing! I was so thrilled beyond excitement when the series got a relaunch! I never had the money to buy them, so I’ll likely miss out on owning them now. Feels like a friend has died.
