Michael Grant (co-author/co-creator) of Animorphs contacted me yesterday with a quick update regarding the Animorphs Classic re-release:
It’s official: Animorphs books will be re-released with the first 2 coming in summer of 2011. They will have lenticular covers. (Look it up: we had to.)
Lenticular covers basically means that they will be 3D and/or animated. You may have seen examples of this already on various products or DVD releases throughout the years. I’m guessing that Scholastic will most likely use the current covers we have and add a morphing animation to them (much similar to the morphing cards that we got with the Invasion Board Game). But this is entirely speculation on my part, so we’ll have to see where they go from here.
Anyways, that’s it for now! I’ll post more details regarding those 2 summer book releases as they come.
It’s good to finally have something officially confirmed. Lenticular covers should be neat, I’m looking forward to that.
Also, thanks for saving me the trouble of looking up “Lenticular”.

Is there any confirmation on whether or not there will be an ebook release as well?

@Danny, I have multiple jobs, so I do the best I can with the free time I have. Plus, this is an archive website first, so it’s something that I can work at in my own pace. You can always expect me to update right away when I hear some new information though. That’s something I won’t ever delay to report to you guys.
@Robert, No confirmation regarding ebooks yet. Michael & K.A. have expressed a great deal of interest in re-releasing the series as ebooks, but it’s ultimately up to Scholastic. I’ll be sure to update on it if I hear anything solid. 🙂

No worries. 🙂

Well, it’s too bad it’s only the first two (I think #3 and #4 are pretty important to the series and its development as such a popular story) but it’s still better than not having it printed out at all.
I hope they get through with the eBooks. That’s one thing as a college student I’d really appreciate… It’d be a lot easier than trying to take the physical copies with me to a 270 square foot studio.
Way, way easier.

I wonder if K.A. will write an actual ending to the series. I mean there was so much more she could’ve done with than “Random abomination with very little explanation comes and attacks Ax. Everyone charges in and…. Cliffhanger”
I dunno I’ve always thought the Animorphs deserved more closure than “Go write fanfics, my loyal fans!” And I know a lot of other people feel this way.

@Matt: It’s called a Bolivian Army Ending. It’s not supposed to have a conclusive ending to the battle. Look it up on TVTropes.org for an explanation…
I still want this to come out! This, even though it is technically a children’s series, is one of the best series that I have read…
Though, the letter at the end of ‘The Beginning’ was annoying….

This is awesome! I’m going to definitely want them for nostalgic reasons. I loved this series so much as a kid but I think I stopped reading it around book 28 (to start reading Everworld), and I’ve been getting the itch to finish reading this series.

I’m so excited! A new generation will hopefully discover this awesome series. IT had so much depth and originality I thought for the most part. Refreshing after the barrage of vamps and werewolves taking over!

oh. This is such an awesome series. I was just so mad with the ending. It’s like why? Why? Near the end i kind of felt like i didn’t know the characters as well. And then Rachel and Cassie and Jake and Ax… Yeah… I didn’t like the last few books in the series as much… But they are still an AWESOME series.
