Its been quite some time (well over a year) since we last heard about the possibility of an Animorphs movie. Previously Michael Grant and K.A. Applegate stated that it was being pitched by a producer to some studios to be considered. This was around the time when the WGA strike was still happening. Since we never heard anything further and were told that the entire thing was a 20 to 1 shot, I assumed that nothing ever became of it.
However, according to Michael Grant’s newest blog post at Stupid Blog Name, it looks as if an Animorphs movie is still in discussion amongst him and some Hollywood producers that he knows. His new series ‘Gone’ was also apparently part of the discussion too. Unfortunately, it seems as if the meeting itself didn’t go too well, but it’s hard to say from the post since it doesn’t exactly go into a whole lot of detail. Here is the direct quote:
“Talked to various Hollywood weasels re: ANIMORPHS and GONE. Results: blah blah blah, we respect your work, blah blah blah.”
Think of that what you will from reading that. As for the rest of blog post, it’s a list of highlights for many of the things that Michael Grant has been preoccupied with lately, such as the Crack and Stack Signing Contest in England in which he recently participated in, in order to beat Meg Cabot by signing more than 1000 books in one hour.
Some other highlights in the blog post also include upcoming appearances by him and K.A. Applegate (info coming soon), along with new information for the Gone series — The 3rd book, titled “Lies” is now complete and being edited, with the 4th book now being named as ‘Plague’ (Still a working title).
There’s also 2 new videos of Michael Grant that he filmed while in UK for Wordia. Watch as he describes “Nemesis” and “Bald“. Also, check out the new poster for Gone in the back, featuring Stephen King’s quote from our previous post š
More coming soon regarding appearances by Michael and K.A., so stay tuned!
A poster named faerykore over at the Animorphs LiveJournal Community posted a short live action Animorphs Fan Film that was made by his friends. The movie involves a person in question being interrogated by two authority figures, where they slowly reveal the secrets about the Animorphs.
Wow, its been a while since my last update. Apologies to all. College is finally coming to an end for me in 2+ months, so life has been heck lately. Rest assured that I have been getting your emails and submissions, and I’m trying to do my best to keep on top of them.
Anyways, for today I’ve updated Fan art section with some new stuff by Dan. You may have seen his stuff already if you go on Deviant Art, but if not, then check these out:
He’s recreated many of the scenes in the Animorph books through a variation of photoshop effects and stock images. He’s even made some original 3D models for the ships, and an short animation of it! All of this has been updated in the Fan Projects section under Fan Art and Multimedia. Very cool stuff, so take a look!
I’ve also added in 3 more Quotes. Thanks to those that submitted them in! I’ve also received scans and pictures on several new items, but those will have to wait until the next update, since I’m short on time at the moment.
If you have items or things to share, then please keep sending them in. I am organizing and sorting through them, and you can be certain that I will put them up on the site (eventually).
Turns out that Michael Grant (co-creator and author of Animorphs) has been in touch with Stephen King lately, and has gotten him hooked onto Michael’s new series: ‘GONE’. Stephen King read the first book, as well as an advanced copy of the unreleased second book ‘Hunger’, and this is what he wrote about the series to Michael’s editor:
Iāve been corresponding with your āMichael Grantā about his Gone books. More important, Iāve been reading the Gone booksāthe first and Hunger, the follow-up. These are exciting, high-tension stories told in a driving, torrential narrative that never lets up. There are monsters, there are kids with mad-crazy super powers, thereās the mystery of where all the adults went. Most of all, there are children I can believe in and root for. This is great fiction.
If you want to quote any or all of that, be my guest. I love these books.
I’ve also updated the Articles section with this as well. It is posted here, under Fanbase.
UPDATE: The people involved with the musical have informed me that the performance from their last show has indeed been taped, and will be coming online soon enough. I’ll post it here once it does.
I would’ve given a bit more of a heads up on this, except that I’m only finding out about this now. I stumbled upon a group of Animorph drama fans on Facebook who have apparently made their own musical for the series! The musical is at an Off-Broadway Theater as a part of the Yale Drama Coalition. Here are the show times:
February 26th 2009, 8:00 pm
February 27th 2009, 8:00 pm
February 28th 2009, 2:00 pm
February 28th 2009, 6:00 pm
Click here for more information on the show, for those that live close enough to attend. If anyone happens to get a recording of this, then let me know, and I’ll put it up on the site as well.
I thought I’d highlight a quick update today with an amazing new Animorphs drawing submitted by an artist named MangoShell. I absolutely love this illustration, it’s very professionally drawn, so I just had to share it with all of you as well. Her drawing is now also posted in the Fan Art section.
On another note, it turns out that the foreign wallpapers in the downloads section were Spanish, not German. I don’t speak either, so thanks to Lector for correcting that mistake. š
Hello all. There’s a new song called “Private Offender” from the TV show that is now posted in the Music & Soundtracks page. As always, you can listen to it streamed or download it directly to your computer.
For fan submissions, we have 2 Memorable Quotes, thanks to Cassie and JRTCMA. We also have a new Animorphs Fan Trailer from Visser2Azula, as well as my 2 previous videos (Animorphs 300 and Animorphs Animated) which have now been added to my video page too.
Lastly, I’ve fixed up the layout of the Projects section, as well as all of the individual pages for Fan Art and Fan Fiction. They include a new disclaimer at the end of every one of those pages now.
For any more submissions, please get a hold of me as you normally do.
This was created for my Flash Graphics class a little while back. It’s the first time I’ve used Flash to make any sort of animation, so obviously I chose Animorphs as my first project to inspire me.
This little short is purposely done in black & white. The style was inspired by several other fandoms, such as Frank Miller’s artwork from ‘Sin City’ and the simplistic figures from Pixar’s ‘Incredibles’ credit shorts.
I know that many Animorph fans often wondered what Animorphs would be like as a cartoon, which is why I made this 3 minute animation as a sort of promo trailer in my mind, something that MIGHT be submitted, someday, to be pitched for an actual Animorphs animated show. Of course, this is purely a fan project (which I got course credit for making), so I’m just glad I got the opportunity to finally work on it. It’s something that I’ve been itching to make for a while now.
So please sit down, enjoy, and comment below to let me know what you think!
This is unrelated to the archive. I got the sudden inspiration to make this after seeing mock trailers for Halo and Scrubs with the 300 movie audio over them on youtube. It took me over the span of 3 days to make this. I know most people hated the Animorphs show, but give this a shot. If you liked my previous music video, then I’m sure this will not disappoint.
Also, please rate the video, and let me know what you think!
