THE THREAT

STORY | BOOKS | CHARACTERS

SUMMARY

There is a new Animorph. And he's arrived just in time, because the Yeerks are preparing their biggest takeover ever. The ultimate target: the world's most powerful leaders gathered together in one place. What better way to get into the minds of humans? Literally

At first, David joins the fight with a vengeance. But there is definitely something wrong. Because he's starting to break the rules. Taking risks that could get them all captured. Or killed. The Animorphs don't know what to do. Because there was a time when the Yeerks were their greatest enemy. That's about to change...

TRIVIA

  • This book is Part 2 of 3 of the David Trilogy (#20-22).
  • ANIBASE: The cover of this book was the very first one to host the "Watch Animorphs on TV" logo. The show premiered on Nickelodeon the next month and lasted for 26 episodes in two seasons. The logo disappeared from covers on #24: The Suspicion, but returned on #30: The Reunion with a new look and it continued to appear on every single cover for the rest of the series.
  • The Animorphs generally have a rule against morphing other sentient beings, such as a humans, unless permission is given first. However, given the importance of the situation they were in, this book was one of few books where the Animorphs had to break their code when they morphed the security guards. This 'morphing code of conduct' of theirs is broken a few times more in in the series (#30, #43, etc), especially in the following book: #22: The Solution, by the now rogue Animorph, David.

NEW PLOT ADDITIONS

ANIBASE: First mentioned in this book was Jake's and Rachel's cousin, Saddler, who was hit by a car while riding his bike. His worried parents, Ellen and George, and siblings, Brooke, Justin, and Forrest, were coming to stay with Jake's family while Saddler was at the hospital. Though seemingly a sad diversion for now, Saddler's plight becomes a bit more dangerous in the final book of the David Trilogy, #22: The Solution.
